Viral football fan and energetic mom shares her passion and positivity
Hello, world! My name is Merrianne Do. I am constantly working to be the best version of myself—to spread joy every day. I am driven by passion and compassion—choosing to live fully, love deeply, and give generously. I also aim to inspire those around me to be their authentic self. It’s a wild world out there! I hope to rise above the challenges, uplift others, and make a positive impact.
On October 16, 2023, ESPN broadcast a full range of my wild emotions as I was enjoying a Monday Night Football game. My intense facial expressions went viral. A single tweet reached more than 9 million views, and I quickly became a meme. I was then interviewed by Pat McAfee and many other amazing media outlets. It was a lot of buzz for one fan simply enjoying the game like she always does!!!
I am a proud mom of four boys, one being on the autism spectrum. To care for our family, I recently left my 24-year career in pharmacy to become a homemaker. Growing up in Minnesota with 5 older brothers, I loved sports and went crazy for NFL football at a young age. Our boys now enjoy watching and playing sports as well. They often join us at Chargers games, where we are season ticket holders.
I was nervous for my very first interview after going viral, but Pat McAfee, AJ Hawk and Boston Conner were amazing hosts. Pat was so incredibly enthusiastic and supportive that I felt really comfortable introducing myself to the world. I even saw AJ smile a few times. They asked about my story, fandom, and how it felt to go viral. I shared some of my journey and thoughts as a fan and a mom. Of course, we addressed the plant allegations and how I felt about the current state of the team.
I loved this interview because I was able to talk about autism, something near and dear to my heart. Ultimately, we all express our emotions differently. We communicate differently, love differently, enjoy a game differently – and it is okay. I feel incredibly blessed to live in a society that embraces these differences. Thank you, KTLA, for giving me the opportunity to share a bit of my story. I'm donating any royalties from the bobbleheads in support of autism awareness. Find them here.
It was fun to meet the Chargers media team as they interviewed me at our house then followed our group around during game day. We took on the Chicago Bears that day (and won). I shared some of my pre-game rituals and walked them through Thunder Alley all the way to the field cabana suite inside SoFi Stadium, where we sat. I also talked about some favorite experiences and memorabilia and the ups and downs of being a Bolt fan. (Note: Budlight is a team sponsor.)
